Project Scheduler

Operate within a fast-paced environment to provide professional project schedule development services for all initiatives within the a Federal Agency. Assist project managers who need assistance with developing project schedules in compliance with Agency Policy and GAO Scheduling Best Practice Guide. Candidate must have expertise with industry best practices and techniques building compliant project schedules within MS Project and/or Project Server. Assignments range between developing a project schedule during Initiation or Planning and turning it over to the project manager for ongoing maintenance and management to providing assistance with ongoing project schedule maintenance and management under the direction of the project manager through project Execution/Controlling and Closeout phases. The goal is to ensure more thorough and consistent project schedules that 1) result in projects being completed successfully and on time, and 2) feed into an Agency Dashboard that tracks progress of all project schedules against approved baselines. The project scheduler may be required to incorporate project schedules developed by third-party vendors into a master project schedule.

Expertise and Qualification

The candidate requires knowledge and experience in:

· MS Project 2007 or higher, seeking 3-5 years of experience: Critical path analysis and methodology; Extract reports, filters, etc.; Integrate master schedules; and manage multiple schedules

· Experienced in planning and scheduling concepts with hands on experience developing, analyzing, maintaining, and tracking project schedules for large and complex projects

· Experience with documenting, training and enforcing evolving scheduling standards (GAO Best Practices, DCMA 14-Point, etc.)

· Experience with integrating multiple schedules

· Experience creating and augmenting project status reports, near term forecasts, summary activity/milestone reports, critical path and ad-hoc reports and presentations etc

· Experience resource loading project files

· Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)

· Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to interface with all levels of an organization

· Experienced with evaluating schedules submitted by third-party developers to ensure they are consistent with Government (or client) expectations and risk thresholds

· Requires excellent communication skills


· Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Business, Management or related discipline from an accredited university or college


· PMI PMP, PMI-SP or equivalent certification preferred
